FIRSTASSIST DAY ONE ABSENCE MANAGEMENT SAVES CLIENT £375 PER EMPLOYEE PER YEAR
16th July 2010
A leading media and entertainment company has reduced its employee absence level by 30% from 2008 to 2009, working in partnership with health and wellbeing specialists, FirstAssist.
The organisation, which employs staff across numerous retail locations in the UK, implemented FirstAssist’s ‘day one’ absence management recording service in 2006 as part of a decision to invest in an enhanced wellbeing provision. The ‘day one’ service is directly linked with the occupational health case management service.
Staff contact FirstAssist’s Health and Wellbeing Centre to register their absence, where Health Coaches take information, including estimated return to work details, and then notify line managers of the absence.
Data is collected to enable comprehensive online management reports, and if agreed triggers are reached, cases are passed to FirstAssist’s clinical case managers.
As well as reducing sickness absence levels at the organisation, the introduction of a formal and accurate system for the collection of absence data has allowed the identification of trends and a clear view of absence rates and patterns.
Tania Pierce-Jones, clinical relationship manager at FirstAssist comments: “By working closely with this client we have successfully reduced absence levels for both short and long term sickness.”
“Our services go beyond simply managing the process of absence. We work with organisations to identify the root causes of absence and potential risks. We’re delighted that the system is reaping such positive benefits for the company and its employees.”
